Surgical Pathology Final Report

Description

A lymph node is procured to assess etiology for altered size, texture or appearance.  The most typical condition inducing such changes include normal reaction, infection or malignancy. Routine processing and histopathology is always performed with addition of flow cytometric immunophenotyping, cytogenetics, culture, etc. as necessitated by clinical setting and histopathologic findings.

Specimen:  Tissue

Container(s):  Saline-moistened gauze or telfa in sterile specimen container

Minimum Vol:  n/a

 

Note:  FRESH (no fixative) lymph node must be delivered immediately to 8th floor lab CPA or Histology (OC.8.901) and given to someone's personal charge; identify it as a fresh specimen.  Specific handling instructions may be obtained from Histology at (206) 987-2580.

 

A completed Pathology request form including hospital number, name, date, pre-op diagnosis, clinical history, physician and any other pertinent information must be submitted with the specimen. 

 

Ater 1700, deliver specimens to the 8th floor lab CPA; notify CPA that it is a fresh specimen.
