Description

Aspartate aminotransferase is present in high activity in heart, skeletal muscle, annd liver.  Increased serum AST activity commonly follows myocardial infarction, pulmonary emboli, skeletal muscle trauma, alcoholic cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, and drug-induced hepatitis.

Container(s):  Gold SST, Lt. Green/Lithium Heparin Microtainer, Dark Green/Sodium Heparin or Gold Microtainer

Preferred Vol: 1.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 0.5 mL

 

Note: Test is affected by hemolysis. Send to lab promptly.
