Sample Requirements

Specimen:  Body Fluid

Container(s):  Sterile Screw-Capped Container, Sterile Screw-Capped Tube or Syringe

Preferred Vol:  0.5mL

Minimum Vol:  0.5mL

 

Note:  Keep specimen at RT. Abdominal, ascites, body, chest, peritoneal, pleural, thoracentesis fluid in Gold or Red tubes are also acceptable. Method is affected by oxalate, exposure to RBC's and hemolysis. Not affected by heparin, sodium fluoride, or lipemia.
