Sample Requirements

Specimen:  Whole Blood

Container(s): Heparinized Syringe

Preferred Vol: 0.5 mL

Minimum Vol: 2 Heparinized Capillary Blood Gas Tubes. (EPOC capillary tubes are not acceptable).

 

Note: Ideally, specimens should be analyzed within 10 minutes of drawing and not exposed to air bubbles. Specimens may be run up to 30 minutes after drawing when stored at 2-8°C.

Methodology

Method:  Oximetry by SIEMENS RAPIDPOINT 405

Analytical Volume:  0.1 mL of sample for analysis, always use the recommended fill volumes for the sample collection device. This ensures that the system can aspirate sufficient sample for analysis.
