This test measures IgG antibody and is not appropriate for testing newborns. See Rubella IgM Serology.

Sample Requirements

Specimen: Whole blood

Container(s): Gold SST or Red

Preferred Vol: 2.0 mL

Minimum Vol:  0.6 mL

Storage location: Spin sample and transfer serum to a plastic aliquot tube.

Monday – Friday: Place aliquot sample in the CPA refrigerator virology rack.

Saturday-Sunday & Holidays: Close batch in Mayo Access and courier to UW NW220. (Call on Holidays to be sure the lab is open to accept samples).

 

Off-site collection:  Spin sample and transfer serum to plastic aliquot tube. Transport refrigerated.
