Sample Requirements

Specimen: Random urine or 24 hour urine collection

Container(s): Sterile Screw-Capped Container or 24 Hour Urine Jug

Preferred Vol: 50.0 mL

Minimum Vol:  25.0 mL

 

Note: 24 hour urines received with preservative or not having been refrigerated during collection will be rejected.

Processing Instructions

Reject due to: Samples with preservatives or non-refrigerated 24 hour urine samples.

Aliquot: N

Temp: 2 - 4 C

Storage location: If sample is received as a random urine, aliquot at least 25 mL of urine into a sterile screw-capped tube for transport and put into the send-outs rack in the CPA fridge. If sample is a 24 hour urine collection, place whole jug in the CPA fridge.

 

Off-site collection: Refrigerate sample during collection.
