Note: Fresh tissue (no fixative) must be delivered immediately to 8th floor lab CPA or Histology (OC.8.901) and given to someone's personal charge; identify it as a fresh specimen. Specific handling instructions may be obtained from Histology at (206) 987-2580.
A completed surgical pathology requisition including hospital number, name, date of birth, date of procedure, pre-op diagnosis, clinical history, ordering physician, and any other pertinent information must be submitted with the specimen.
After 1700, deliver specimens to the 8th floor lab CPA.

Description
Gross and microscopic analysis of any tissue removed from a patient. Tissue should be sent fresh (without fixative) when it requires microbiology, frozen section, immunofluorescent, cytogenetic or flow cytometric analysis; samples used for research or tissue culture should also be sent fresh.
