Tests Not Offered at Seattle Children's

Important Note

The following tests are no longer orderable at Seattle Children's Hospitals and Regional Clinics.  These tests have been reviewed the the Laboratory Stewardship Committee, and have been found to have limited clinical utility or insufficient clinical validation.

Sample Requirements

Phlebotomists: Do not collect blood for these tests. 

Notify ordering provider that this test is no longer available at Seattle Children's and we do not send this test out to other reference laboratories. Our Laboratory Stewardship Team has determined that there is no proven, evidence-based clinical utility for the following tests.

CK-MB is no longer widely recommended for cardiac injury, since there are more specific assays available. 

Coxsackie A IgG Entero/Parechovirus PCR Qual Coxsackie A is prevalent in the environment and >60% of individuals over 1-year of age are sero-positive. Echovirus Antibodies Enterovirus PCR panel  
Eosinophil Cationic Protein N/A ECP is a marker of eosinophilic inflammation, although it provides no information about the presence of IgE-mediated allergy.  Not recommended for routine clinical use.

Human herpes virus 6 (HHV6) IgG HHV6 by PCR Human herpes virus 6 is prevalent in the environment and seroprevlance rates are nearly universal and rarely pathogenic, unless an individual is immunocompromised. If there are concerns about an active infection, recommend PCR testing to evaluate.
