Selenium, RBC

Important Note

This test is no longer offered by Seattle Children's hospital.

Note to Seattle Children's Staff: Orders for metal or trace element RBC testing will be automatically replaced with the serum equivalent of the order without notification to the external provider. If a provider wishes to discuss testing options further, a clinical pathologist or doctoral level consultant can be reached by calling (206) 987-2617 (Option 5) or by emailing ClinicalLabFaculty@SeattleChildrens.org.

Phlebotomists: Do not collect blood for Selenium, RBC. We offer the recommended test Selenium, Serum (LAB579).

Clinical Utility

Seattle Children’s does not offer Selenium, RBC testing for clinical indications.

 

Seattle Children’s does not send Selenium, RBC testing out to other reference laboratories because we do not perform third party billing for tests that are not clinically indicated.
