Specimen: Whole Blood

Container(s): Red or Dark Green/Sodium Heparin

Preferred Vol: 6.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 1.2 mL

 

Note: Do not use serum separator tubes (i.e. Gold/SST). Deliver to Main Lab immediately. Trough levels are most reproducible.

Processing Instructions

Reject due to: Gel-barrier tubes; Specimen received not frozen; Specimen received in Bupropion Analysis Tube containing Sodium Citrate Monobasic

Storage Location: Freeze within ONE hour of collection. Prepare one aliquot of at least 0.6 mL (minimum) of serum or plasma in a plastic aliquot container and freeze specimen. Store in the CPA -20 freezer, Send Outs rack.

 

Off-site Collection: Centrifuge and aliquot into a plastic aliquot tube, labeled with a large Cerner label. Freeze the sample and transport frozen to Seattle Children's Main Lab.
