Description

This test is usually requested in cases of known or questionable CNS damage. Test includes a total CPK (performed at the UW).

Sample Requirements

Specimen: Cerebral Spinal Fluid

Container(s): CSF Tube

Preferred Vol: 1.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 0.5 mL

 

Note: It is not necessary to run a total CPK at Children's Lab; it will be done at the UW.

Storage location: Refrigerate sample in the CPA refrigerator. If Red Cells are present, centrifgure and transfer clear CSF to new tube.

 

Off-site collection:  If Red Cells are present, centrifgure and transfer clear CSF to new tube. Refrigerate sample for transport.
