Body Fluid Malignancy Workup - Flow Cytometry

Important Note

Specimens for Fluid Malignancy Workup must be coordinated with Pathologist on-call and pathologist on cytology prior to collection to ensure testing availability and adequate specimen collection.  Contact pathologyadministrationintake@seattlechildrens.org or 72103 to determine who the pathologists are.  In Epic, order a “Miscellaneous test”.  Under name of test put “flow cytometry at SCH”, and make sure to choose the correct specimen type (CSF, body fluid, and other are choices) and specimen source (BAL, CSF, and other are choices). Under specimen details, note to collect an additional (ideally) 10-20 mL for flow.  Under Handling and Storage, note “send to Cell Markers immediately”.

For further information, contact Hematopathology (Cell Markers) at 206-987-2560 or Pathology 987-2103.

Note:  'Flow Cytometry FHCRC' is only to be used for BMT/HSCT patients.  For all other SCH patients, order Miscellaneous test (flow cytometry).
