Specimen: Whole Blood
Container(s): Lavender/EDTA or Red
Preferred Vol: 3.0 mL
Minimum Vol: 1.0 mL
Note: Samples should be drawn Monday - Thursday 04:00 AM - 13:30 PM. (Note: It is acceptable to draw outside these hours. The sample(s) must spun down and frozen within 24 hours of collection). Send the sample(s) to the Main Lab immediately. Whole blood samples MUST reach the reference lab within 24 hours of the blood draw.

Storage Location: If drawn Monday - Thursday between 04:00 AM and 13:30 PM, affix a large Cerner label to whole blood sample(s) and place in the room temperature Send Outs rack. Alert the Send Outs. If drawn during evenings, weekends or holidays, the sample(s) must be spun down and frozen within 24 hours of collection.
Off-site Collection: Spin down and freeze plasma/serum. Transport frozen.
