Enterovirus D68

Important Note

Confirmation testing for patients suspected of having enterovirus D68 is sent to the State Lab.  Testing can ONLY be sent with approval by Infectious Disease (469-5527).  

 

Please write an "Add-on Lab Test Communication" order (specifying the previously positive rhino/ento sample) for EV-D68, with documented ID approval in the text comment.

CPA should DOE "EV-D68" as accession add-on to the original rapid resp order, if using the same sample, and give the paperwork and labels to Send-outs. Don't need to look for specimen, which is in microbiology lab.

 

Send-outs will notify Dr. Xuan Qin of request and communicate to ordering provider that they should contact ID for approval, if no ID approval is documented. Dr. Qin will communicate the final approval to send-outs.
