Container(s): Sterile Screw-Capped Container, Sterile Screw-Capped Tube, Syringe

Preferred Vol: 2 mL

Minimum Vol: 1 mL

 

Note:  Deliver labeled container on ice to clinical lab within 1 hour of collection. Abdominal, ascites, body, chest, pericardial, peritoneal, pleural, and thoracentesis fluid is acceptable. Test is performed on the pH meter. Method is affected by delay in processing which results in bacterial growth or other in vitro metabolism of specimen.
