Specimen: Urine and Whole Blood

Container(s): Sterile specimen container AND Gold SST, Dark Green/Sodium Heparin, Red, Gold Microtainer, or Lt. Green/Li Heparin Microtainer

Preferred Vol: 1.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 0.5 mL serum or plasma

 

Note:  Urine method is affected by fecal contamination, loss of specimen during collection, and height and weight of patient.  Refrigerate urine sample during collection and storage.  The use of no preservative is preferable. Loss of more than 10% of total urine collection invalidates the test.  Serum creatinine must also be ordered and collected within 24 h of urine collection.  Provide height and weight of patient.
