Specimen: Body Fluid
Container(s): Sterile Screw-Capped Container, Sterile Screw-Capped Tube, Syringe, Gold SST, Red
Preferred Vol: 1.0 mL
Minimum Vol: 0.5 mL
Note: PROTECT FROM UV LIGHT. In-patients: wrap paper towel around tube and seal with one piece of tape. Off-site: wrap tube in foil. Indicate type of body fluid on requisition. Abdominal, ascites, body, and peritoneal in Gold SST or Red tubes are also acceptable. Method is affected by hemolysis. Specimen is stable under fluorescent lighting for up to 4 hours.
