Container(s): Sterile Screw-Capped Container, Sterile Screw-Capped Tube, Syringe, Gold SST, Red

Preferred Vol: 0.5 mL

Minimum Vol: 0.25 mL

 

Note: Note type of body fluid on requisition. Abdominal, ascites, body, chest, peritoneal, pleural, and thoracentesis fluid in Gold or Red tubes are also acceptable. Method is affected by hemolysis, lipemia, and anticoagulants (any type).
