Preferred Vol: 10.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 7.0 mL

 

Note: Breast milk is NOT accepted.

Storage Location: Transfer at least 7.0 mL of urine into a sterile screw-top container. If ordered STAT: when a Sendouts team member is present, notify them IMMEDIATELY, otherwise IMMEDIATELY send sample directly to HMC for testing. All orders from the ED should be considered STAT. If ordered routine, and is not from ED, place sample in CPA freezer send-outs rack.

 

Off-site Collection: Transfer at least 7 mL urine in sterile screw-top container. Freeze sample and transport at -20 C.

Description

Test is for salicylates, acetaminophen, amphetamines, barbiturates, phenothiazines, methadone, morphine, codeine, darvon, benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants, THC, and approximately 150 other drugs and compounds. A full list is available in the Laboratory. Testing is not useful for determining ingestion of plants, mushrooms, organophosphates, pesticides, or metals. Testing for legal purposes in not available through HMC. Method is affected by very dilute urine.
