Specimen:  Body Fluid

Container(s): Dark Green/Sodium Heparin (Synovial, Pericardial, Peritoneal, Pleural Fluids),

                Specimen cup, Syringe, or Plain tube acceptable for other body fluids

Preferred Vol: 1.0-5.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 0.25 mL

 

Note: Lavender/EDTA and Lithium Heparin tubes may produce crystalline structures resembling monosodium urate in synovial fluid and are not recommended for crystal analysis. Note body fluid type on requisition and container. Send to the lab immediately (within 1 hour) for accurate results.
