Note: Place the sample on ice and deliver to the lab within 10 minutes of collection.  Note if patient was crying, or if collection was difficult.

Storage location: Deliver to CORE within 2 min of receipt. A protein-free filtrate must be made by CORE as soon as possible.  

 

CORE: Add 0.5 mL CSF to 1.0 mL cold 6% perchloric acid and mix by vortexing. Centrifuge and transfer supernate to plastic tube. Store in CPA Freezer, Fz5 rack.

 

Off-site collection:  Prepare protein-free filtrate: Add 0.5 mL CSF to 1.0 mL cold 6% perchloric acid (PCA) and mix by vortexing. Centrifuge and transfer supernate to plastic tube.  Send frozen.
