Specimens collected for this test may also be used for CSF Neurotransmitter Metabolites and/or CSF 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate - all performed at the same reference laboratory. Separate CSF specimens should be submitted for all other testing.

Preferred Vol: 4.5 mL

Minimum Vol: 1.5 mL split between tubes #1 - #3 (0.5 mL each; run the risk of not being able to add other testing)

 

Note: Call the Main Lab for appropriate specimen collection containers. Each set consists of five numbered micro-centrifuge tubes. One complete set of tubes is required per patient. Fill each tube to the marked line. Place the tubes on ice at the bedside immediately after collection. Hand deliver specimens to the Main Lab immediately.
