Sample Requirements
Sample should be obtained a few hours after the patient has retired or first thing in the morning before patient arises, showers, or uses the toilet. Use clear, transparent Scotch tape (DO NOT use frosty invisible Scotch tape) and touch all areas of the anal folds. Use caution as eggs are highly contagious. Place the tape sticky side down on the bottom of a Petri plate. Label the lid of the Petri plate and tape plate shut. Clear, transparent Scotch tape and Petri plate may be obtained by calling Microbiolgy Lab 206-987-2585.

Off-site collection: Off-site Children's Lab locations should send to SCH Main Campus for testing. Sample should be kept at room temperature prior to and during courier transport.

Reject due to: Specimen collected on frosted tape.
