Sample Requirements
Specimen: Whole Blood
Container(s): Gold SST, Red, Lavender/EDTA
Preferred Vol: 2.0 mL
Minimum Vol: 1.0 mL
Note: This test can share a tube with other Viral PCR testing but a separate tube needs to be collected if Hematology (CBC, Platelet, ESR, etc) testing is ordered.

Storage location: Spin blood, transfer 1 mL plasma/serum to a plastic aliquot tube affixed with a large computer label.
Monday – Friday: Place sample in the Virology rack of the CPA freezer.
Saturday-Sunday & Holidays: Close batch in Mayo Access and courier to UW NW220. (Call on Holidays to be sure the lab is open to accept samples).
If plasma/serum cannot be frozen within 2 hours of collection, it is acceptable to freeze the aliquot within 48 hours of refrigeration. Document this time discrepancy on the batch sheet.
Off-site collection: Spin sample within 2 hours collection and transfer plasma/serum to plastic aliquot and transport frozen.
