Sample Requirements
SCH Main Campus Specimen collection: Culture should be collected using the ESwab system.
Off-Site Specimen collection: Samples collected at off-site locations (where specimen set up will be delayed) should be collected with an ESwab, which contains Amies transport media.
Container: Swab should be inserted into the sterile plastic tube containing Amies media provided in the package.

Processing Instructions
CPA: Send sample to Microbiology for processing.
Off-site processing: Yeast Screens are not set up at Off-site Children's Lab locations. Sample should be kept at room temperature for courier pickup and delivery to the SCH Microbiology laboratory.

Description
Includes culture for yeast only. This culture is typically set up when yeast infection is suspected from these body sites: Esophogeal/Throat, genital/vaginal, and nose. Direct stain is not included unless specifically requested. For all other body sites a Fungal culture should be ordered.
