  • Sterile Container for Bronchial Lavage (BAL)
  • Sterile Container for Tissue

Preferred Vol: 5.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 3.0 mL

 

Note: Acceptable specimens include BAL, bone marrow, and tissue. Collect bone marrow in Lavender Top Tube, other specimens in sterile container. No heparin in aspirate syringe.

Tissue:

  • Monday - Friday: Place sample in the Virology section of the Send Outs rack.
  • Saturday - Sunday and Holidays: Close batch in MayoACCESS and via Delivery Express courier to NW220. Call on holidays to be sure the lab is open to accept samples.

 

Off-site Collection:

  • Bone Marrow or Paraffin Tissue: Send room temperature
  • BAL or Tissue: Send frozen at -20 C
