Specimen: Whole Blood
Container(s): Lavender/EDTA; Dark Green/Heparin also acceptable
Preferred Vol: 5 mL; volume dependent on blast count
Minimum Vol: dependent on blast count; consult lab
Note: Specimens for PB Malignancy may be collected any time, to be tested the same day or held for testing the following working day. This test is for peripheral blood workups only - for bone marrow, see Bone Marrow listings.

Description
Flow Cytometry PB Malignancy Workup is used in determining the lineage of hematopoietic precursors and in classifying acute leukemias. This workup may be performed on peripheral blood if there are sufficient blasts for evaluation; requests will be evaluated by pathologist.
