Description

A hematocrit test determines the amount of red blood cells present in ratio to the total blood volume.

Hematocrit levels are useful in monitoring anemia, long term illness, infection, leukemia, lymphoma, vitamin/mineral deficiency, recent or long-term blood loss, hydration levels, lung disease, heart disease, and polycythemia vera.
