Test Code LAB293 CBC + DIFF

Important Note

Manual differentials are automatically performed when specific criteria are met in the auto differential; manual differentials cannot be ordered.

Add ons for differentials can only be performed within 48 hours of the CBC collection.

Clinical System Name

Complete Blood Count with Differential

Description

Examination of the numerical complete blood count is useful in diagnosis of such disease states as anemias, leukemias, allergic reactions, viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections.

This test includes WBC, RBC, Hgb, Hct, MCV, MCH. MCHC, RDW, Plt, MPV, red cell morphology, white cell differential, and Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC).

Reference Range

As of 11/18/2025, Polymorphonuclear (Polys) and Band cell populations are no longer reported as distinct cell types. The Neutrophil Count % and the Absolute Neutrophil Count include both polymorphonuclear and band cells.

Please see CBC for Red cell indices reference ranges.

Note: No automated differential is reported when WBC <200/CMM. Differential and RBC morphology are automatically resulted with "No Data."
