Sample Requirements
Specimen: Urine
Container(s): Sterile Leak-Proof Container
Preferred Vol: 20.0 mL from 24-hour urine collection with 10 grams boric acid added to the container.
Minimum Vol: 10.0 mL from 24-hour urine collection with 10 grams boric acid added to the container.
Note: Refrigerate during collection. Also acceptable for collection: 25 mL 50% acetic acid or 6N HCL. Test includes a urine creatinine. Method is affected by improper specimen collection and by pH (must be <7.5).

Reject due to: Specimens exceeding stability limits. Specimens without preservatives.

Storage Location: Place entire collection jug in CPA refrigerator. Mix well, measure and note total volume. pH must be <7.5. Transfer 20.0 mL to a plastic urine bottle affixed with a large Epic label and refrigerate in the CPA refrigerator. Frozen specimens are acceptable.
