Sample Requirements
Specimen: Aspirate, Bronchial Lavage, Anterior Nares Swab, Nasopharyngeal (NP) Swab, Oropharyngeal (OP) Swab, or Wash
Container(s): Sterile Screw-Capped Container or Universal Transport Media (UTM)
Preferred Vol: 3.0 mL
Minimum Vol: 0.75 mL
Note: Acceptable sample types include: BAL, Nasal Wash, or NP swab. NP sample should be collected using a mid turbinate flocked swab, promptly placed in Universal Transport Media (UTM).

Description
The UW Clinical Virology Laboratory in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology incorporates the modified FDA approved Panther Fusion® assay for the detection and identification of multiple respiratory viral pathogens.
