Preferred Vol: 3.0 mL fluid

Minimum Vol:  Diagnostic yield generally proportional to specimen size

 

Note: Acceptable sample types include: tissue (Fresh, Fixed, or paraffin embedded), or fluid from a sterile site. If specimen is fluid, use sterile technique to aliqout 2 mL fluid into sterile screw top container.

 

Also Accepted: E-swabs and UTM (Universal Transport medium); Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues (FFPE, PET); non-blood body fluids collected in Vacutainer tubes without preservative; Lavender top (EDTA) tube.

Reject due to: Tissues free-floating in formalin; samples containing citrate, or heparin; Blood/Serum specimens; Stool; Sputum; Swab/fluid collected in tube containing agar.
