Preferred Vol: 3 mL Whole Blood or 1 mL Spinal Fluid
Minimum Vol: 1 mL Whole Blood or 0.5 mL Spinal Fluid
Note: Dark Green/Sodium Heparin, Lt. Green/Lithium Heparin Microtainer are NOT ACCEPTABLE

Blood: Centrifuge tube within 24 hours of collection and aliquot serum/plasma. Freeze at -20 C. The sample may be shared with other viral PCR tests (CMV PCR, EBV PCR, BKV PCR, ADV PCR) but cannot be shared or added on to samples that have been run through any analyzer.
CSF: Freeze within 2 hours of collection or ship immediately at 4 C. If CSF has cells, centrifuge and aliquot clear CSF. Freeze at -20 C.
Off-site collection: If no freezer available, ship at 4 C. Ship time not to exceed 48 hours. Do not freeze/thaw. If frozen, ship with dry ice.
