Test Code LAB3816 Monkeypox Virus Qualitative PCR

Important Note

DO NOT PUT ANY SPECIMENS IN THE PNEUMATIC TUBE SYSTEM. These specimens should be hand delivered to Main Lab.

The detection of monkeypox virus DNA by real-time PCR amplification. The primers used in this PCR reaction amplify the F3L gene (Maksyutov et al., J Virological Methods 2016) and the probe hybridizes the target sequences between the primers that specifically identifies the PCR amplicon. The minimum virus level that gives a positive result in 95% of replicates is 328 copies/mL in either VTM/UTM or Aptima multitest tubes.
