Description

This test is for the qualitative detection of Mycoplasma pneumoniae from repiratory swabs in UTM.  infection via nucleic acid amplification.

Sample Requirements

Specimen: Nasal Middle Turbinate Swab, Nasopharyngeal Swab, or Anterior Nasal Swab.

Container(s): Universal Transport Media (UTM)

Preferred Vol: 1 Swab

Minimum Vol: 1 Swab

Processing Instructions

CPA: Send sample to Microbiology.
 

Reject due to: Collection other than a flocked swab in UTM (e.g. dry swab, ESwab, cotton swab, swab with wooden shaft, calcium alginate swab, etc.).

Temp: 2 - 8 C (if storing ≤3 days) OR -70 C (if storing >3 days)

Off-site Collection: Send refrigerated if <3 days old OR frozen at -70 C if 3 days old or greater.
