Description
This test is for the qualitative detection of Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis from nasopharyngeal (NP) swabs. This FDA-cleared DiaSorin Molecular Simplexa™ test is used to quickly and effectively detect Bordtella infection via nucleic acid amplification.

Specimen: Nasopharyngeal swab
Container(s): Universal Transport Media (UTM)
Preferred Vol: 1 Swab
Minimum Vol: 1 Swab
Processing Instructions
CPA: Send sample to Microbiology.
Reject due to: Collection other than a flocked swab in UTM (e.g. dry swab, ESwab, cotton swab, swab with wooden shaft, calcium alginate swab, etc.), collection from a non-NP source.

Temp: 2 - 8 C (if storing <7 days) OR -70 C (if storing >7 days)
Off-site Collection: Send refrigerated if <7 days old OR frozen at -70 C if 7 days old or greater.
