Important Note

This test should NOT be ordered with Renin Activity (LAB3438). 

 

Collect midmorning (i.e., 7am - 10am) after patient has been sitting, standing, or walking for at least 30 minutes and seated for 5-15 minutes. If the patient is supine, ensure that the patient is in this position for at least 30 minutes prior to collection. Fasting specimens are recommended but not required.

Processing Instructions

Reject due to: Serum. Specimens collected in citrate, heparin, or oxalate. Grossly hemolyzed or refrigerated specimens.

Temp: -20 C

Storage location: Aliquot 1 mL plasma to a plastic tube affixed with an EPIC collection label. Place sample in the CPA Freezer, Send Outs rack IMMEDIATELY.

 

Off-site collection: Aliquot 1 mL plasma to a plastic tube affixed with an EPIC collection label. Freeze IMMEDIATELY and transport frozen.
