Description

Measurement of 25 amino acids by ion exchange chromatography.

 

Clinical Utility

Amino acid analysis can be useful in the clinical work up, diagnosis, or dietary monitoring of the following disorders:

Phenylketonuria, tyrosinemia, maple syrup urine disease, urea cycle defects (argininosuccinic aciduria, argininemia, CPS, OTC deficiency, citrullinemia), non-ketotic hyperglycinemia, homocystinuria, defects of cobalamin metabolism, cystinuria (urine only), ornithinemia, and lysinuric protein intolerance. Amino acid analysis is also performed for nutritional monitoring.
