Sample Requirements

Specimen: Whole blood

Container(s): Lavender/EDTA or Lavender/EDTA microtainer

Preferred Vol: 1 mL

Minimum Vol:  0.5 mL

 

Note: Trough levels are collected within one hour of the next dose.  Please arrive to the lab 30 – 60 min before the next dose time to allow for probable wait times

Specimen must be received in the lab by 10:00 for same day results.

If patient is receiving IV tacro, the lab sample must be drawn off a separate line or from a peripheral source. Assay can also be performed on dried bloodspots, but must order Tacrolimus Level Blood Spot.

 

Processing Instructions

Reject due to: Frozen specimen.

Storage location: Store specimen and labels in RT1 box.

 

Off-site collection: Trough levels are collected within one hour of the next dose.
