Sample Requirements
Specimen: Whole blood
Container(s): Lavender/EDTA or Lavender/EDTA microtainer
Preferred Vol: 1 mL
Minimum Vol: 0.5 mL
Note: Trough levels are collected within one hour of the next dose. Please arrive to the lab 30 – 60 min before the next dose time to allow for probable wait times
Specimen must be received in the lab by 10:00 for same day results.
If patient is receiving IV tacro, the lab sample must be drawn off a separate line or from a peripheral source. Assay can also be performed on dried bloodspots, but must order Tacrolimus Level Blood Spot.

Storage location: Store specimen and labels in RT1 box.
Off-site collection: Trough levels are collected within one hour of the next dose. Note draw time on the requisition. If patient is receiving IV tacro, the lab sample must be drawn off a separate line or from a peripheral source. Do not centrifuge. Send refrigerated if sample will not be received in lab within 24 hours. Assay can also be performed on dried bloodspots, but must order Tacrolimus Level Blood Spot.
