Test Code PROTEIN and ALB Globulin

Important Note

Globulin is a calculated value, and is defined as the difference between Total Protein and Albumin.  We don't provide the calculation, but providers can calculate it manually using the formula:

Total protein (g/dL) - Albumin (g/dL) = globulin (g/dL)

Sample Requirements

Specimen:  Whole Blood

Container(s): Lt. Green/Mint Top Lithium Heparin, Lt. Green/Lithium Heparin Microtainer, Gold SST, Gold Microtainer, Dark Green/Sodium Heparin, Red

Preferred Vol: 1.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 0.5 mL

Note:  See Protein (Serum) and Albumin. This is a calculated value based on the serum protein and albumin values.
