Note: Patient should be fasting. Draw Mon - Thurs before 1400 only. If test is ordered with plasma Pipecolic Acid, both tests can be performed on a single sample of 3 mL whole blood.

Storage Location: Affix large Cerner label to original lavender top tube and store in CPA refrigerator send-outs rack. RBCs (separated from plasma and buffy coat) may be substituted for whole blood if necessary. RBCs should be kept in orginal lavender top tube affixed with large label and delivered to CPA refrigerator Send Outs rack.
Off-site collection: Monday - Thursday, send whole blood refrigerated.
