Specimen:  Whole Blood

Container(s):  Lt. Green/Mint Top Lithium Heparin, Lt. Green/Lithium Heparin Microtainer, Gold SST, Gold Microtainer, Dark Green/Sodium Heparin, Red, Lavender/EDTA, Lavender/EDTA Microtainer

Preferred Vol: 1.0 mL

Minimum Vol: 0.5 mL

 

Note:  Every 8 hour dosing: Infuse IV over 30 minutes. Draw peak level after 3rd or 4th dose 30 minutes after the end of the IV infusion. Trough levels should be drawn 30 minutes before the 4th dose. Document the date and time of infusion and collections. Also, document whether the sample is a peak, a trough, or a random level.
