Description

The Giardia / Cryptosporidium QUIK CHEK EIA is a qualitative enzyme immunoassay that provides rapid, simultaneous detection of two clinically significant protozoan parasites, Giardia lamblia (duodenalis) and Cryptosporidium.

The test is indicated for initial stool testing for these protozoa and for treatment follow-up. If provider is concerned about detection of additional pathogens, the Rapid Infectious Diarrhea PCR Pnl should be ordered (through PowerPlans).

Entamoeba histolytica has been rarely detected in this area, no detection in the past 10 years in our lab. If the provider is concerned about E. histolytica, please call Microbiology Lab (7-2585) to arrange for miscellaneous send out test to Mayo Clinic.
