Description
Examination of the numerical complete blood count is useful in diagnosis of such disease states as anemias, leukemias, allergic reactions, viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections. The presence of schistocytes may indicate a hemolytic process.
This test includes WBC, RBC, Hgb, Hct, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, Plt, MPV, white cell differential, Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC), and red cell morphology, including the presence or absence of schistocytes.
Sample Requirements
Specimen: Whole Blood
Container(s): Lavender/EDTA
Preferred Vol: 2.0-4.0 mL
Minimum Vol: 0.5 mL Microtainer; 1.0 mL Macrotainer
Notes: A Lavender top/EDTA Macrotainer must contain at least 1.0 mL.
