Description

This test is for the detection of CMV in saliva. This FDA-cleared DiaSorin Molecular Simplexa™ test is used to quickly and effectively detect congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, a major cause of hearing loss in infants.

For confirmation of CMV infection in breastfeeding infants, please order a dried blood spot PCR (Order: “CMV by PCR Quant, Newborn Blood Spot”) or Neonatal CMV Urine PCR (LAB3862).

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) DNA is detected via nucleic acid amplification.
